ABOUT YOUR HOST – DAVID WOOD

David Wood has been working with whisky for over 30 years, with a remarkable career that includes managing some of Scotland’s most iconic distilleries on the West Coast and the Isle of Islay.

Describing himself as “the luckiest whisky enthusiast in the world,” David began his journey in the 1990s, quickly developing a passion for single malt Scotch. Alongside his wife, Leonie, he ran a wine merchants in the Peak District National Park, where his love for whisky led him to discover the magic of Caol Ila single malt from Islay.

David’s dedication to the craft saw him create his own range of single malt and single cask whiskies before achieving a lifelong dream—becoming Distillery Manager at Caol Ila, one of Scotland’s most prestigious distilleries.

Today, David travels the world sharing his deep knowledge and passion for Scotch whisky, hosting tastings and educational events that bring the spirit of Scotland to life for whisky lovers everywhere.
